Spring 2005

Spring is on its way!

Things are definitely showing signs that the coldness and darkness of winter is on it's way out. It's time to think about getting outdoors, feel the warmth of the sunshine, and at the same time, plan for those projects you have entertained in your mind. Your desire to complete such projects early in the year can only increase your free time to do some of the other enjoyable thing you would like to engage in, such as fishing, golfing, and vacationing.

Start early, finish early - ENJOY!

The Garden Path

Do you want to turn an ordinary walkway into something special?

You can make it happen!
Walking through a garden can be simply an exercise in getting from one place to the next
or it could be a memorable experience in itself. It's a matter of creating the scene, and bringing stone into the setting can be the key.

We Want To See You!

All of us here at Galassi Cut Stone offer you an "open invitation" to stop by our showroom in Mokena. This showroom is dedicated to natural stone, showing granite for your kitchen countertops, as well as marble for the floors and surrounds. All granite and marble in custom cut and finished by our team of experienced fabricators. We complete the project with a award winning project for you to be proud of for years to come.

Stone - It's not just for exterior

The single most important design theme in interiors today is the use of the texture of natural materials such as stone, either as a background to a room, an accent fireplace or perhaps even a piece of furniture. It doesn't matter whether the furnishings of a living space are traditional, modern, southwestern or country, the presence of stone achieves great style in a room. The decorative effect depends on your personal preference and can be one of sleek formality or homespun casualness depending on the selection, application and finish of the natural stone selected. Stop by, we've got it on display!

Garden Design - an Art Form

The Japanese are masters of this subtle art form--garden design of rock alone, or rock with dwarf plants.

Think of the opposing colors, textures and shape of rock, pebble, gravel and sand together and in a combination that appear to have been ordained in nature. Peaceful, serene and relaxing--the Japanese type garden needs only a small amount of physical space and careful placement.

There are a variety of natural stones available for landscaping including lava and feather rock boulders, ranging in size from basketball to four feet and larger, they are lightweight and work well with crushed rock and other growing covers. Flat stone used as stepping stones made from bluestone or slate seem to work well. The most popular choice for surrounding the area is with gray/black pebbles (known as mexican pebbles).

Let your imagination be your guide. Remember to select carefully--stones last forever.
